Trikala / Meteora
Capital of the district of west Thessaly carrying the same name, Trikala is a city known for its liveliness, its green-conscious and technologically informed way of life, the river Lithaios which gifts it with its evergreen banks of plane trees, and the countless bicycles riding every street constituting the city’s trade mark.

From Trikala you will effortlessly approach the monasteries of Meteora, built on the tops of huge, dark-colored rocks, rinsing magnificently over the endless Thessalian valley and seemingly touch the sky.
A unique and priceless matching of byzantine architecture and unparalleled natural beauty, with the monasteries incorporated in the gigantic rocks, hooked on them like a natural extension, as if they are trying to reach God.
The wild and unexplored landscape became an ideal residence for the first hermits and ascites and later an ideal refuge for pilgrims, with twenty-four monasteries, six of which are still operational.
